Looking for Spring Break Getaway

We live in Tulsa and want to do something fun with our 3-year-old toddler sometime in March during Spring Break. Do you have any recommendations on where to go that isn't too far away from Tulsa that is kid friendly? We don't want to fly. We just want to drive a couple of hours or so and have a blast!

I want to do something close to home too. We have a 12 yr old and just want to stay away for 1 night. I'm at a loss! Hopefully i will figure out something soon!

For the "older" kids, Six Flags - check their website for coupons.

Staying in Oklahoma? Bricktown in OKC usually has tons of stuff going on. www.TravelOK.com would be a good place to look.

Silver Dollar City isnt too far away in Branson, MO. Its just far enough to call it a nice road trip and its fun for all ages! We took our 3 kids last spring and my youngest was only 3 months old and we had a blast!! And sometimes hotels will give discounted or free tickets to the park just for staying with them. Just beware of all the timeshare offers! All in all, lots to do and see, even on a budget!

I totally agree that Branson is a great close getaway! Silver Dollar City has lots for the kiddos to do. We went to San Antonio one spring break but that drive is a lot farther than Branson.

Oh yea, and if you do go, Grand Country has an indoor water park that is awesome! We went one year after Christmas and my kids thought it was so cool to go swimming when it was freezing cold outside! In March, it still won't be warm enough for the outdoor hotel pools to be open, so this is a great alternative even if you stay somewhere that has an indoor pool!

We took our 3 year old to Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City -- www.greatwolf.com/. It was about a 4 hour drive, but once you get there you literally do not have to leave the hotel. . .they have EVERYTHING! It was tons of fun and our son LOVED it! :)

Ooohh!! Branson is GREAT!! SO much to do there!

For more local things, make a vacation in the city you live! A couple of years ago we went up the turnpike about 45 min to Joplin, stayed the weekend, went to museums, shopping, etc and had a really good time.

Woolorock is close and kids usually always love that place!

Don't forget to check out our state parks, some of them are really nice and offer a TON of things to do.

I have also had some friends go to Great Wolf and they LOVE it there.

We did OKC when the kids were little...and had a blast! Stayed in a hotel near a mall...and went to all of the FREE museums there. Had a water balloon fight in the parking lot! Great, inexpensive fun.
